Joel Frank – MBA

Managing Principal and Founder

Joel Frank is Founder of Equilus Capital Partners and an Investment Adviser Representative of Equilus Group Inc. where he serves as Managing Principal.

Joel is driven by his passion to make a difference in each client’s life. He empowers people to achieve their financial goals by delivering proven solutions backed with 31 years of experience. Joel comes from an agricultural background in Northeast Oregon where he was a respected business and financial consultant serving three governors on the Governor’s Business Advisory Council, primarily in the areas of economic and business development. He has attended and graduated courses and studies from Cal Poly AG Technical in Agronomics, Wharton Business School in Economics and Harvard University courses, through NYLIC University in Business and Finance. Joel has an MBA and a Master's in Financial Capital Management (MCM).

Roberto H. Castro, LLC, PLLC

JD General Law Counsel, Equilus Capital Partners

Roberto is an active member of the Washington State Bar, admitted to the US Tax Court and Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Washington and is rated by Avvo as a "Superb" legal counsel. He is a graduate of Cornell Law School, holds an MS in Taxation from Fairleigh Dickinson University, MBA from the University of Portland, and is a Qualified Appraiser holding the Certified Valuation Analyst (CVA) designation.   Roberto is also a Board member of the North Central Washington Estate Planning Council. Roberto resides in Chelan, is involved in local non-profit organizations, is a PAC-12 and WCC certified tennis umpire a road, gravel and time trial cyclist, a student of Yang Tai Chi and KravMaga, hiker, photographer, sous chef and avid reader.

 

 

 

Traci Jo Phillips

Real Estate Coordinator

Traci Jo is developing and educating a strategic network of commercial real estate agents to source qualified, income-producing real estate opportunities. Her specialty focus is to coordinate and implement a thorough vetting process to determine the viability of a prospective property or location; and determine that the property profile matches the Fund criteria. Networking, due diligence, and results are her commitment! 

Traci Jo was raised in Eastern Washington, where her father was an entrepreneur and taught her at a  young age to work hard. She grew up working in the family cherry orchardShe graduated from Eastern Washington University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice. She joins Equilus with a background in Law and Justice. She worked as a Probation Officer for several years, then was promoted to represent the County and State as a Quality Assurance Specialist. After many rewarding years working in the government system, Traci Jo retired to pursue her passion in the business sector. 

She brings a high standard of integrity, uniqueness, and creativity to the Equilus team. She believes her career in the justice system has provided her with innumerable skills in understanding people. She is exceptional at working under pressure, completing deadlines, and identifying solutions. Traci Jo values seeing people, places, and things come together for the common good.

 

L. Jake Carpenter

Vice President of Investor Relations

Jake Carpenter has worked in the financial services industry for 14 years.  He began his career in financial services with New York Life.  A seasoned professional, he specializes in insurance planning, investment services,     capital gains tax deferral strategies, estate planning, business succession, wealth transfer, and asset management. As an educator, Jake excels in customer service and is passionate about equipping his clients, through education, to make optimal decisions for reaching their financial goals.  From improving their current financial position, to reducing potential risk and creating diversity, Jake ensures that his clients understand all their options.

Jake was raised in North Central Washington.  Originally, a career police  officer, he attended Washington State Law Enforcement Academy, and was recognized with honors and awards.  He gained experience working in   Special Weapons & Tactics (S.W.A.T.).  After changing his career pathway to financial services, Jake attended and graduated courses from Harvard     University in Business and Finance, through NYLIC University.

When he’s not at work, Jake enjoys boating with his wife, family, and friends.  He also enjoys cooking and weight training with his wife. Jake believes that personal discipline and hard work are important to achieve success. He holds to this philosophy in his professional life as well.  He believes in producing powerful and lasting results by connecting individuals to the appropriate resources and strategies that work for them. Jake considers it an honor and a  privilege to serve our clients in a meaningful way by always working to add value.

 

Marc Bannos

Senior Financial Adviser

As an educator, Marc excels in customer service and is passionate about educating his clients and helping them make smart financial decisions.  Marc enjoys listening to his clients and helping them find the gaps in their financial plan and working with them to understand all their options.  Whether it’s managing risk, deferring tax, or selecting the right retirement plan, Marc thrives upon helping his clients (and their families) make wise financial decisions. Marc was raised outside of Chicago, Illinois.  His family has been involved with restaurants for decades, and he originally was on course to be a chef before switching majors in college.  Marc graduated in the top percentage of his class at Johnson & Wales University in Rhode Island with a Bachelor’s of Science in International Business.  Outside of work, he enjoys hiking, volunteering, international travel, road trips and experimenting in the kitchen.  Marc and his fiancée, Angeline, currently live outside of Seattle in quiet Bothell.

Leslie Massey

Vice President of Operations and Administration

Leslie joined the Equilus team in 2017. She is proficient in bookkeeping and budget management and plays a critical role in overseeing the cash flow into projects and accounting for dollars spent. Her attention to detail is impressive when completing complicated documentation and ensuring quality checks for compliance with all paperwork. Leslie maintains a strong belief that honesty is the best policy. Leslie graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Interdisciplinary Studies/Social Sciences from Central Washington University-Moses Lake. She would like to pursue her master's degree in either Accounting or Psychology. In her free time, Leslie enjoys reading and spending time with her cat and her husband, Kevin.

 

Rhonda Frank

Vice President of Marketing and Business Development

Rhonda was raised in Oregon, where she worked in the family business from a young age and learned the value of hard work and financial stewardship.  She joined Equilus with a background in nursing.  As a nurse, she pursued the opportunity to work as an administrator where she could have an impact on the quality of patient care, pairing her nursing skills and compassion for the elderly with her astute business sense. Read more...

Rhonda worked several years at an administrative level of an Assisted Living facility that specialized in Memory Care. In addition to coordinating and providing patient care and family support, she managed the care giving staff where she was highly thought of and respected.

When the time was right, Rhonda transitioned out of the medical field and into her current role with Equilus.  Her years of experience in business administration, event planning and a strong work ethic have proven her to be a valuable asset to the team.

Rhonda highly values integrity and trustworthiness. In a world where it is becoming increasingly difficult to trust, a handshake doesn’t bear the weight it should.
